Exclusive Home Caregiver Training for Organizations
Home Caregiver Training
The Schmieding Center Home Caregiver Training is a three-week course, taught by nurses and other health care professionals. The program is a hybrid class that is both online (virtual) and in person. It is a unique program designed to teach students to care for older adults in their homes. The class is comprised of physical skills and Alzheimer’s and dementia training. The class provides instruction in basic home safety and personal care, as well as, valuable information about how to care for the needs of a person with dementia. It describes the stages of Alzheimer’s disease and various types of dementia, including, how to manage difficult behaviors. Each participant will need ready access to a computer with internet access. Daily online class meetings are required. During the class, there will be three (3) 2-hour practice sessions at the Schmieding Center and students must also pass an in-person skills competency and written exam to complete the training.
The Schmieding Center Home Caregiver Training enables students to advance their caregiving skills and competency. This class satisfies the training required by Arkansas law for caregivers who are paid to provide care in the home of a person who is 50 years of age or older.
