Our Staff

Valerie Claar, MSN, RN, CNE, CDP, CADDCTProgram Coordinator 

Valerie Claar, Schmieding Home Caregiver Training Program Coordinator, received her undergraduate nursing degree from Henderson State University, and her master’s degree in nursing from University of Central Arkansas.  She is nationally certified through the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners as a Certified Dementia Practitioner, a Certified Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Care Trainer and a Certified First Responder Dementia Trainer.  She is also a Peer Educator for the Diabetes Empowerment Education Program and a certified Ageless Grace instructor.

As a registered nurse since 1995, she has experience caring for clients across the lifespan.  Valerie is a lifelong resident of Hot Springs and is strongly committed to promoting the well-being of the community through the education of caregivers.  Valerie has been a nurse educator since 2007 and is certified through the National League for Nursing as a Certified Nurse Educator.

Audrey “Shelly” Langford, LPN, CDP – Education Specialist  

Shelly has served in assisted living as a nurse for several years.  She obtained her LPN degree from Baptist School of Nursing and proceeded to work with Alzheimer’s Dementia as an advocate.  She is trained as a Certified Dementia Practitioner. Having worked with the aging population has provided her with great knowledge and experience to be an excellent instructor for our program.  Shelly is a positive role model for her students, doing whatever it takes with enthusiasm to help them succeed.
