Schmieding Graduate Spotlight – Sharon

Although Sharon was working as a caregiver, she was missing the verifiable training that the Arkansas State Senate mandated for direct care workers that became effective April 2014. Sharon wanted to obtain her training from a qualified caregiver training program and the Schmieding Home Caregiver Training Program was suggested by her employer.

Sharon began her journey with the Schmieding training program by attending a general information session which included a tour of our facility. Initially, she registered for the In Home Assistant 40 hour course, but Sharon states, “I was so impressed by the compassion and professionalism shown by the instructors during the first course that I decided to complete the entire certified program.” Upon completion, she received our Geriatric Home Caregiver Certificate which verified that she had completed 116 hours of certified caregiver training.

Her decision to participate in all three courses did not come without sacrifice; Sharon had to work evenings or nights so that she could continue to have an income during the five week program! Each day Sharon presented to class on time, professionally attired in scrubs, and with positive disposition. Sharon was a support to her younger colleagues and served as an example of professionalism in attitude and attire.

Since completing our program, Sharon has worked steadily and quite successfully. The owner of her home care agency speaks very highly of Sharon’s ability to provide skillful and compassionate care to every client regardless of their condition. He states, “There was one case in which Sharon’s care made ALL the difference. She’s great.” In fact, Sharon was just selected as her agency’s Employee of the Year!

The staff of the Schmieding Home Caregiver Training Program-Little Rock will remember Sharon’s professionalism, compassion, positive attitude, and her gentle kindness toward others.
