Schmieding Graduate SpotLight – Adam

Adam searched for a Certified Nursing Assistant program to begin his process of becoming a nurse. He found a training program, but he soon realized that he could not afford the tuition.  Overcoming profound sadness and disappointment, he searched the internet for CNA programs. He saw the Hot Springs website and called the number. His information was forwarded to the training coordinator in Little Rock who encouraged him to attend the upcoming General Information Session.

Adam was excited to hear that our program offered tuition assistance in the form of need-based scholarships! He quickly collected the information that was needed and scheduled his interview. During this interview, he shared his dream of becoming a nurse and that the CNA certification would be an important part of the process as it would allow for employment, money, and caregiver experience.

Adam overcame many obstacles to complete this training program and sit for the Arkansas state exam. One such obstacle was transportation. Initially, he walked miles to attend the five week course. He was the first student to consistently arrive early each day! Adam faced and overcame every obstacle with the same level of determination for which he became known – “I can do this!”

He is now a CNA who is gainfully employed and preparing to pursue his long term goal of becoming a nurse.

Although Adam never forgets to express his gratitude for the Schmieding program, staff, and his personal life mentors, we know that his faith, dedication, and spirit directed him to our program and to his success. Adam’s drive, enthusiasm, and perseverance served as an example to his classmates and these attributes are remembered by the Schmieding staff of Little Rock.
