IHA Students Learn Basic Personal Care Skills
Today the In-Home Assistant students learned personal care skills such as bathing, brushing teeth, fingernail care, denture & mouth care, foot & toenail care, shaving and dressing. Each student took their turn practicing each skill during skills labs to gain valuable knowledge that will help them as a Personal Care Assistant or Geriatric Home Caregiver.
When they complete this portion of their training next week, they will be certified In Home Assistants or PCA (Personal Care Assistants). However, these ladies have chosen to complete all of the UAMS Schmieding Method training to become Certified Nurse Assistants. On March 29 they will be taking an Alzheimer’s and Dementia care course and then the advanced course, Home Care Assistant in April. After that they will be qualified to take the State of Arkansas CNA license exam.
Good job ladies, we are proud of your hard work and dedication. See our Facebook page for more photos of these ladies practicing their skills – by clicking here or this LINK.
