About Us

Dr. Angela Norman, DNP, GNP-BC, ACNP-BC, Associate Director- UAMS Centers on Aging, Donald  W. Reynolds Institute on Aging
Dr. Norman attended Southern Arkansas University, received her Masters from UAMS and her Doctorate Degree from the University of Tennessee in Memphis.  She was appointed by Governor Beebe to the Office of Long Term Care Board and recently appointed to the Arkansas Lifespan Respite Coalition. She serves on numerous boards and committees across the state regarding aging, Alzheimer’s and Dementia. Dr. Norman is committed to caring for older adults in the State of Arkansas and regularly provides educational opportunities through the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. She is nationally certified as a Certified Dementia Practitioner and instructor. She has trained over 1,000 healthcare professionals in and out of the state on dementia care. She was instrumental in the development of the South Arkansas Center on Aging in 2001 and the UAMS Schmieding Home Caregiver Training Center in 2013.  Her mission now is to create a dementia friendly state by creating support and resources for those living with dementia.

Leslie Rice, LPN, Education Specialist
Mrs. Rice started her career in the healthcare field as a CNA in 1988, working in long term care. She has been a LPN since 1996 and has worked in various areas of healthcare; including acute care, long term care, and at our Senior Health Clinic. As the Education Specialist, her passion is to serve others and make a positive impact in the lives of the people she meets.

Bethany Moore, RN, CDP, Program Manager
Mrs. Moore, a Southern Arkansas University alumni, has had a rich and valued professional career including staff administrative, and clinical nurse positions in such settings as acute care, emergency, long term care, and home health.  Educating patients, families, and the community is her passion and she is dedicated to improving the lives of older adults.  She is a Registered Nurse and holds a National Certification as a Dementia Practitioner.

Nicole Patterson, Administrative Coordinator
With an education in accounting and years of knowledge and experience in marketing, business management, leadership and excellent customer serviceMrs. Patterson brings a positive attitude and a passion for people to the table. Her desire is to see both our program and students grow and impact our community in new and beneficial ways. Nicole joined the team in July of 2017.
