AR you a family caregiver in Arkansas?
Across America, November is a special month. In addition to fall colors, the beginnings of the holiday season, and cooler weather, we also celebrate a group of people who we couldn’t live without: Caregivers.
Caregivers can be people young or old, professional or volunteer, and any race, gender or religion. However, they share one thing in common- they give of themselves to care for the well-being of someone else. It’s not an easy or glamorous job, and too often these devoted individuals get little to no recognition for the work and love they pour out for others. So November is month we will set aside to recognize these amazing and strong people.
The South Arkansas Center on Aging together with the Schmieding Home Caregiver Training Program is sponsoring the following FREE events in November:
November 15 -South Arkansas Caregiver Celebration
An afternoon spent supporting and celebrating the caregivers in our community. Featuring door prizes, massages, gifts, resources, health screenings, and also a proclamation by Mayor Frank Hash!
- Open to: Public, no registration required
- Time: 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.
- Location: El Dorado Conference Center, 311 S West Avenue, El Dorado
- Cost: FREE
November 29 – Family Caregiver Workshop – Care of the Person with Dementia
Providing care for a loved one with dementia can be challenging and overwhelming. But with knowledge and understanding, we can improve both the lives of our loved one living with dementia and our own. Join us!
- Open to: Public, Registration required by phone or email.
- Time: 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
- Lunch is Provided
- Location: South Arkansas Center on Aging, 106 W Main ST., Suite 310, El Dorado
- Cost: FREE
