Healthy Eating and Tasting – Venison Chili
El Dorado – Today, the South Arkansas Center on Aging, Healthworks Fitness Center and the Medical Center of South Arkansas held our monthly Healthy Eating and Tasting (HEAT) event. Laura Rogers, from Arkansas Game and Fish was our guest. She spoke about the benefits of venison and prepared venison chili.
Why venison? The simple answer is that it is good for you.
- Venison is leaner and has much less fat than beef.
- Venison is rich in iron, which prevents anemia and is good for energy levels.
- Venison has more protein: 26 grams, compared to 23 grams in beef.
- Venison has more vitamins and minerals per serving than beef.
- Venison is rich in vitamin B6, which is crucial, especially for diabetics.
