Brown Bag Medication Review Sept. 27

Taking multiple medications is especially concerning among the elderly.  Add to that mix, over-the-counter medications or supplements.

Geriatricians and researchers have warned for years the potential hazards of polypharmacy, usually defined as taking five or more drugs concurrently. Yet it continues to rise in disturbingly high levels among older adults. Even if you don’t take five or more drugs, some natural supplements, herbs and vitamins may pose a drug interaction risk.

Would you like to learn about the common uses, side effects and interactions of the prescriptions, herbal medicines, vitamins and supplements you are taking?  Gather up all of your prescription medications, over-the counter meds, herbal, vitamins and supplements and bring them to the Schmieding Center.

Walgreen’s pharmacist, Mike Koenings will be available for a free, one-on-one appointment to review what you are taking, ensure you are taking them correctly and check to see if you can take fewer or cheaper medications.  Call 479-751-3043 to schedule your appointment!
