Medicare Open Enrollment Begins

Starting this Monday, October 15 and continuing through December 7 is the Medicare Open Enrollment period in which beneficiaries are able to look into and change their Part D and Advantage Plan options for the upcoming year. Changes must be made by December 7, or the current plan you have will carry on into next year if it has not been discontinued. It is recommended that all Medicare beneficiaries take time to look at their options each year, even if you are happy with the plan you currently have since plans may make changes to their formularies, co-pays, monthly premiums and deductibles from year to year. If you discover that your current plan is still your best option for next year, you are free to keep that plan. If you find there is a plan that will better fit your needs, we will help you enroll in a new plan free of charge.

For help looking into your available options, contact the Senior Health Insurance Information Program hotline at 1-800-224-6330, and you will be transferred to a trained Medicare counselor in your region of the state. Also feel free to contact Charlotte Clausen directly at the South Central Center on Aging in White Hall by calling 870-879-1440 OR 1-866-895-2795 (toll-free). We are not selling insurance policies! We are just here to tell you what options are available and help you choose the plan that is right for you.
