Pine Bluff Training Center Featured in Local Newspaper

The Schmieding Home Caregiver Training Center in Pine Bluff was recently featured in an article in the Pine Bluff Commercial.  The article starts with a summary of how the Schmieding program began with Mr. Schmieding’s search for an in-home caregiver for his brother, and goes on to provide a short overview of the current program.

Lisa Beck, Coordinator of the Schmieding Home Caregiver Training Center in Pine Bluff, then goes on to describe some of the specific challenges faced locally at the Pine Bluff site, and how students persevere to overcome them. The reporter also interviewed two of our current students about the program and what they plan to do with the training they receive. One student, Brandy Edgerson, was quoted as saying, “The program is a stepping stone to gain my independence… and to be able to take care of my children.”

The article then goes on to describe some of the other outreach programs offered by the staff, including community health education talks and virtual dementia tours.
