On January 4, 2017, the SHARE foundation of El Dorado, AR presented the Schmieding Home Caregiver Training Program (SHCTP) in El Dorado with a grant for $14,595 to go toward student scholarships. The Program Coordinator for the SHCTP Bethany Cheatham was present to receive the award. She was joined by a former graduate and previous SHARE scholarship recipient Ci’Anna Martin, and the rest of the Schmieding staff. This marks the second consecutive year that the SHCTP has received a sizeable grant to increase the number of qualified caregivers in Union County. In 2016, 20 students were given the chance to be trained as a certified caregiver. Many went on to take their state Certified Nurse’s Assistant (CNA) exam successfully, and many now work as caregivers in homes and facilities in Union County and beyond.<\/p>\n
The generous grant for 2017 will provide full scholarships to 21 students who have a legitimate financial need and desire to be educated as a certified caregiver. The staff of the SHCTP was thrilled to accept this grant and looks forward to helping better the lives of individuals seeking a new career or those simply seeking to better the life of someone they love.<\/p>\n
