Growing Need for Home Caregivers
Like many states, Arkansas has a growing number of older adults. A large number of these individuals will choose to remain in their homes and will rely on family members and/or paid caregivers for help with daily activities.
Because of this, the field of home care and the home care industry in Arkansas continues to grow. Private home care companies are expanding and government programs are searching for more ways to keep older adults in their homes through expanded home and community-based programs. The growth of home care programs and services requires hundreds of additional home care workers of varying levels of knowledge and skills.
- The number of seniors in Arkansas will increase to 24% of the population by 2025; which means 1 out of every 4 Arkansans will be 65 or older.
- The number of personal care aides will need to grow by 49% to meet demand.
