There are a number of ways to find a caregiver.  You might choose to hire someone through an agency and or hire them on your own.  It is important to understand the pros and cons of each.

The Schmieding Caregiver Directory is a list of individuals who have graduated from one or more Schmieding Certified Home Caregiver Training courses.  These individuals have passed both written and skills evaluation tests and maintain a minimum of 12 hours of continuing education each year.

The Schmieding Caregiver Directory serves as a resource for anyone who is seeking assistance with home care.  Caregivers listed on the directory have been trained by the Schmieding Method but work as independent care providers for the person who hires them.

We encourage anyone hiring someone in their home to conduct a thorough interview and screening.  Background checks on home care workers can aslo be conducted via mail or over the internet.  See below for more information on hiring a caregiver and background checks.
